Perhaps you have neglected to file your tax return or you were just plain broke even to pay a tax preparer to do your tax return. Do not despair, there are ways to file your back tax returns without breaking your arm and your leg.
Understanding the Release cycle of Tax software?
If you have heard of Turbotax or tax cut or complete tax then you have heard of tax software. Most tax publishers release their tax software early in the year (Jan -Feb) for the previous year. For example you can expect to find Turbotax 2008 in stores by late 2008 or early 2009. But after the tax year is over, you will not find the software in retail stores. So after April of 2009, its very unlikely that you will find Turbotax for 2008 in the retail stores.
What is Old Tax Software?
Older versions of Tax Software that is no longer sold in the retail stores is called old tax software. You can easily file your un-filed back tax returns from previous years using old tax software.
So say you have not filed your 2007 tax return or your 2006 tax return – just find Turbotax 2007 or Turbotax 2006. Load the software on your computer from the disc, answer the interview style questions and you are done. All the tax forms are inside the software itself – so when you are ready you can print the tax return.
